Finding Discrepancies Between Computer and Physical Models in 3D Printing
Location
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Date
Winter & Spring 2022
Project type
Undergraduate Research Opportunity
I created computer generated models of hand-drawn load bearing objects and topology optimized objects using Fusion 360. I then printed these models using an Ultimaker 3D printer. After doing this, I scanned the models and uploaded them back into Fusion 360, running Finite Element Analysis for each model and looking specifically looking for physical discrepancies and how those contributed into structural performance. This project involved collaborating with undergraduate students and my graduate advisor to present video and powerpoint documentation of our work.
