Solar Desalination in Madagascar

During the fall 2023 semester I worked on a team of several other MIT and Wellesley students to develop a condensing chamber for a pre-existing passive solar desalinator for Tatirano Social Enterprise in Madagascar. This involved frequent team meetings, prototyping in the workshop, applying thermal and fluids engineering principles from other coursework, and checking in with the team in Madagascar for feedback. I will spend three weeks in Madagascar this January to implement this solution and work with local women to test the device in real-life settings. This feedback will then be used to improve future iterations of the design.
